Acting on behalf of Enterprise Inns, Dunster and Morton have sold three Berkshire pubs.
Whilst, the market for public houses has not been easy, John Fry, who acts for Enterprise Inns observes that there are opportunities to realise the potential of
such assets by considering a variety of alternative uses.
In the course of the last three months, The Malthouse and the Star in central Reading and The Bird in Hand in Tilehurst have all been sold freehold to purchasers
who are likely to pursue viable alternative uses including a retail convenience store and residential redevelopment.
John Fry says:
"Although the market for public houses in their existing use in some circumstances can be difficult, it is possible to generate wider interest from
other purchasers. Viable alternative uses often exist and sensitive and targeted marketing having regard to the particular amenity and features of the property is
vital to realise this potential."
